Yesterday you brainstormed some lists of goals, dreams, and exciting ideas for your next month, without any judgement or discrimination, and you wrote about your most important reasons for living, and what your best month would look like. Now it's time to narrow it down a little, to the top actions that you could possibly do this next month.
Your list from yesterday was (hopefully) wide open and a little wild. I'm not asking you to get practical now - this is not a list of the things you need to do this month; but I am asking you to choose only those ideas that fit with your current priorities, and with the "taste" of this month of your life:
- Make a rough chart on paper with your priorities as headings. If you like color, use colored pens, and choose an appropriate color for each priority.
- Look back through your brainstorming and choose goals, activities, and ideas to plug in under your various priorities - choose at least one for each priority, and no more than about 20, total. (A short list is fine!)
- When you have your list, take a couple minutes to picture each one to discern if it does indeed suit this month of your life, and does indeed move you in the direction of your best life.
- If you have some good ideas left over, start a list on another page - I call this my Inspiration Page - and move any goals and ideas that simply don't fit into this season of your year, or your life here. You can look at this page for ideas when your feeling uninspired. (You might want to put your Inspiration Page in your Map Book, so it’s easy to find and add to.)
- Recopy your priority goals onto a clean page in your journal, or your Map Book, or a chart on your computer, or a white board, or post them on your refrigerator. Put them where you will see them every day.
